Gemini Lake CPU Specs Are Out
The specifications for the Gemini Lake CPUs are finally out. The quad-core Intel Pentium Silver J5005 processor will power the upcoming NUC7PJYH model and the dual-core Intel Celeron J4005 CPU will be found in the lower end NUC7CJYH model. These 2018 NUCs will hopefully be available during the first quarter of the next year.
Compare the specifications of the two models here at Intel’s Ark site.

I think both will do very nicely for a HTPC, provided that Intel gets the firmwares and Linux drivers working nicely…
Both June Canyon NUCs will be nice upgrades for Apollo Lake NUC.
Will these be able to play 4k, HEVC265?
Yes, certainly.
Native hdmi 2.0?
Yes, like they told earlier?
There is a possibility that the new NUC Core will be presented @ CES 2018?
Yup.

Will be the Coffee Lake-U in next NUC8 afflicted by the new Intel bug (Kernel-memory-leaking)?
I’ve heard Cannon Lake will be first without intel bug, also Intel promised to deliver “fixed CPUs” during this year, who knows what does this mean.
Hi. Is the availability date of the NUC7PJYH known ?
Wait until CES 2018 (if Intel going release NUCs after all… who knows) next week.
OK. Ans what about Meltdown and Spectre for these new CPU ?
I’m worried about the fact it’s hard to find any informations about the Intel bugs for these new CPU. I planned to buy a NUC7PJYH but I changed my mind for now. Do you have any informations?
Apollo Lake Meltdown and Spectre test:
https://www.cnx-software.com/2018/01/06/intel-apollo-lake-windows-10-benchmarks-before-and-after-meltdown-spectre-security-update/
“At this stage, I was expecting to draw a table showing a 5% difference after the update, but I won’t, because there’s no clear performance hit after the update, despite Apollo Lake architecture being impacted by Meltdown and Spectre. Maybe some other database specific tests would have shown a difference, or the security fixes may mostly impact the performance of higher-end processors.”
Thanks!
One last queation : I guess we should expect that Apollo and Gemini Lake CPU lead to the same conclusion ?
Gemini Lake might get bigger performance reduce in general, they are anyway more powerful in CPU / GPU already than Apollo Lake ones.
Don’t worry too much, higher-end CPUs get biggest reduce in performance.
Any news from CES on these? Seems hades canyon has the spotlight.

no USB type C?
Looks like there is No usb type C , and no m.2 slot either version
Its still a great nuc and i want one for desktop use , general web and media/ email pc.
Im not sure but maybe with another £100 you could buy the i3 version, however im not sure the proformance will be that great?
Thanks for the link. Any day now sounds great! Just need to find a fanless case for one and my new htpc will be ready :)
Will they support Netflix 4K?
