Thank you very much!
Can you add when the bios versions was released as well? Makes it easier to keep track!
Excellent idea Marcus! Added now.
BIOS 45 still unlock NVME speed?
Have not tested, but I certainly believe it does.
Many thanks.
thanks..got my 6i3 but having errors on windows 10 install through normal hdd,,anyone tried to install windows 10 through hdd?
The date on BIOS 0042 for the Haswell NUC is 2015, not 2016.
That’s an error on the Intel’s site – the BIOS was indeed released a couple of weeks ago. If you look at the release notes, it correctly says 2016.
Looks like Intel fixed it.
There is a new BIOS for the NUC6I7KYK – Version 41
Many thanks, updated the page.
the is an updated BIOS for the NUC6i5syh, #51, release a week or so ago, which apparently just adds some security updates
Thanks Ben!
There is a new Braswell NUC BIOS #55 available (NUC5CPYH, NUC5PPYH, NUC5PGYH)
“Fixed the issue where some memory would cause the NUC not to boot.”
I have just received a NUC6i5SYK with Bios #42 on board. What do you suggest to do? Update directly to #45 with bios recovery (removing the yellow jumper) to unlock NVME speed? Is the recovery procedure necessary from #42 to #45 version? Thanks.
Sorry, a new one is out, so please read #51 instead of #45 in my previous post!
Update directly to BIOS 0051 using the recovery BIOS update method. Try first by pressing the power button for 3 seconds, that should bring up the recovery menu. Then press F4 to do the BIOS update.
If this does not unlock the NVME SSD, then do the full procedure with replacing of the jumper.
Done with the recovery full procedure. Now I suppose I have unlocked NVME, since I am under Xubuntu 16.04 (with a few problems, by the way) and I don’t know how to check exactly. Gnome-disks gives a avg read speed of 456.5 MB/s for my Transcend TS128GMTS800. Anyway, thanks for your reply.
Maybe I have understood. My M.2 drive can do 560 MB/s as maximun read speed, so in my case NVME doesn’t give any additional speed boost, since the limitations of 1600 MB/s without unlocking NVME is irrelevant to me.
Hello there Gio. Indeed, you won’t see any difference with that device. You’d need an NVME device (such as Samsung SM950 Pro) to notice any difference. Even then you’d be likely to notice the difference only in benchmarks. ;-)
OK, so they jump from BIOS 045 to BIOS 51 (quite a huge gap) for all NUC6i3SYH/K and NUC6i5SYH/K. But the only thing they say is “Security Enhancements” !?!? Anyone have a bit more detailed info on the issues or can provide evidence that this is a must have update? Otherwise I would not put this onto any of my NUC machines. THX 4 CLARIFY THIS:
